A friend went past a mobile van last friday, did not think he was over the limit, however they can get you from 1000m so not 100% sure.

Will a letter in the post be the first he hears ? or is there any other way to find out, also his post has been delivered to the wrong house's by a new postie!!

By the way it was a friend not me!! thanks or any info.

If your friend (see, I believe you) is the registered keeper, they must send him a NIP within 14 days. If the letter is mis-delivered by the Post Office, he may need proof of that if he's going to use the late delivery defence in court.

The ACPO guidelines say that devices used in mobile vans shouldn't be used at distances greater than 600 metres (approx 2000 feet), because above that the beam spread is so wide that you can't be certain which vehicle is returning the signal.

There's certainly no point in phoning the police about this; your friend should wait and see if he gets a form in the post.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx.
