How soon should i swap to a fixed rate?

I am currently with Eon on their cheapest online deal,

what i was wondering is when will it be best to move to a fixed rate deal???

are they likely to stop offering them soon or will i be best staying as i am for a while???

Also is Scottish power better than Eon? i know i can get cashback if i swap to Scottish power, where as if i just swapped deals with Eon i wouldn't.

I have just posted my experiance today with Scottish Power, an advisor told me to remain on the discount rate just now and wait a couple of months before fixing, "as the fixed deal was going to be around a while" but with no closing date published, I am worried that with the forecast rise in gas/electric they may just pull the plug on this deal or up the prices on it ?.

This is whats bothering me too, i have just compaired Scottish Power fixed rate with Eon fixed rate and Scottish power are cheaper, but thats not taking ito account tesco clubcard points. Although Scottish Power is fixed for longer than Eon.
