My husband and I are seriously trying to cut back and the first place we need to start is our home phone and internet.
We currently pay nearly £50 a month through bt for line rental with unlimited evening and weekend calls at £12ish and then £17ish for broadband.
We are looking in to purchasing a dongle and a skype phone (to be contacted by other half's dad in USA) and just rely on our mobiles the rest of the time.
My problem is someone from bt rang us before christmas and asked us if we wanted to take the unlimited weekend and evening calls for £2.50 a month and if we did they would give us home hub, wireless router, and bt vision. We accepted. I have a funny feeling that we may be tied in to a 12 or 18 month contract. I intend to ring them tonight to discuss cancelling our phone line completely, can anyone give me any hints/tips as to what to expect from them. I really don't want to have to stick with them for all that time if at all possible......

Yes you will be in a contract of some sort.
If you have BT line rental you can still CPS your calls through other (cheaper) providers during the day.
Have a look at member Heinz plan it will give you some idea, but he will be along soon if you need more information or any questions answered.
Heinz '7-steps' cost reduction
PS it will cost you a fortune to break the contract, you may as well see it through.0 -
Breaking the contract is capped at £70.0
