Help: Power Jack for Sony VAIO

I have broken my laptop's power jack... (or power socket).

It is a brand new Sony VAIO K315Z laptop ...

Any advice where can I get a power jack or how can I get it fixed ... (cheap options, please :D )

  • Try phoning Sony and see if they can help you out. You could get it as an accessory or if you explain the situation they might offer you one at a decent place or there is always eBay.
  • I sent an email to Sony and apparently they will charge atleast £50 just to collect the laptop + charges for repair (which I suspect will be about £100)

Seems expensive to me if the part is only about £6.

    Email from Sony
    Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email. Please be advised that a repair request can only be dealt with via telephone.

These requests are evaluated by our Service Centre after the collection of the VAIO or specific part. It is important to note, however, that a diagnosis outside the warranty contract is chargeable. If your VAIO is out of warranty, or if physical damage or liquid spillage is found, the minimum cost for transport and labour is EUR 59.80 (GBP 37.62, CHF 87.53). Please understand that we cannot send a repair estimate for out of warranty cases before the VAIO has been diagnosed at our repair centre and we know for sure which parts need to be exchanged.

You can contact SONY VAIO Link by telephone from Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00. Please have at hand your VAIO, the product serial number and your customer details.

    Subject: PCG-K315Z Power Socket broken

    Hello,

I bought my Sony VAIO PCG-K315Z a couple of months ago. Unfortunately I
dropped the laptop and the power socket (or the power jack) got broken.
Because of this, the power cable does not hook well and the laptop does
not charge. Can you kindly let me know that how can I get it fixed and
approximately how much would be charges for this.
