I'm 'H', even though I'm also in shared ownership. It's a struggle, not exactly the affordable housing it is supposed to be. but at least I'm better off than I could be as to rent the same flat privately would be double (eek). it's only a very small one bed too.
I really don't know where the figures this government publishes (makes up) come from as I don't know anyone who pays much less than me in London.0 -
Looks like we are in 'L'
We bought our house in 2002 just before prices started going nuts. We would not afford it now.
Not too worried about the house price crash talk as we own over 50% of it in current terms, although that may change if they wipe off some of it.
It's all the other bills that annoy me: council tax, energy bills, bank charges etc. But Martin takes care of most of those for me.0 -
Thanks for this poll, I'd never have done the sum otherwise and I'm somewhat surprised and pleased to see its coming in at around the 10% mark. Thats only my half of the mortgage though...0

Roughly 50%.0 -
I'm stunned at these results, I really thought everyone spent at least half their take home on housing. Not sure whether to feel envious or poor!0

I rent privately in London (Zone 4) and my rent is approx 60% of my annual salary after tax, with council tax this get pushed up to roughly to 70%.
After I have paid for my travel to work, because I can't afford to live any closer to the city, I am left with pittance!0 -
I'm in O at the moment but come off a fixed rate next month so it will be going up, although I am due a pay rise in June I don't expect it to come anywhere near the £60 pm my mortgage will go up. It's hard when you only have one income to rely on. Forget holidays, clothes, any luxuries.....0
