New Flat - New Gas Meter
When I moved in to my new flat in February of this year. I registered my new gas meter with British Gas. My landlord said he contacted many of the gas suppliers and no one knew that my meter existed, because it didn't! It was a brand new meter. Anyway, I called British Gas to sign up and they said it would take upto 12, if not more, weeks to register the new meter. I would still be charged until then and when everything is set up they will send me a bill after the registration is fully complete. I complained that it would be a rather large bill and they said at that time I will be able to sort out a payment plan to make the payments.
I'd like to know what options (if any, other than the payment plan) I have when they finally send me this dreaded bill?

Surely you'll be using the same ammount of gas weather the meter is registered or not?
Just make a not of your start reading (when you moved in) and then put some money aside each month (say £30) to pay the bill when it is finally created.

MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
