Black/charcoal wallpaper?

Hello all
My boyfriend has blepharitis which makes his eyes quite light sensitive. As a result, he's always had a love of dark rooms, and as he will be spending a lot of time in our study in our new flat he said he wants a black or charcoal wallpaper on the walls.
Problem is, that any black wallpaper I can find that has a nonoffensive pattern (i.e. one that won't make you feel too boxed in!) is either too expensive or the pattern on it won't do well with the corners in the room (the building is an old tenement).
Here's a picture of the room as it is now to give you a better idea:

Anyone able to point me in the direction of some black wallpapers that would work well in this room?
Thanks MSEs!

Why not paint the walls black?

and then hang some piccies to break it up.0 -

I was looking for a pattern because I'm kind of worried about how oppressive an all over black room would look, even with some pics on the wall to break it up.
I would do a feature wall, but the OH isn't mad keen on them and it's "his" room. :rolleyes:0 -
Perhaps something like http://www.ukwallpaper.co.uk/products/as-black-and-white.htm (especially the Damask design)?
Googling for 'black damask wallpaper' will find more. I got the idea from the decor at a hotel I stayed at in Amsterdam last year!0 -
I spotted some lovely black/charcol wallpaper with a silver floral pattern at a local store in Bristol; it was from the monsoon range - got a scrap of it on my noticeboard right now. I can't find the exact pattern, but here's a link to another wallpaper I found on the Graham & Brown website. There seem to be quite a few. http://www.grahambrown.com/store/viewProduct.do?id=2981560
