Album to Italy

Has anyone a rough idea how much it is likely to be to send an LP to Italy by Royal Mail , I am stuck in work so cant get to Post Office to check it out and their website isnt too clear, It is ending tonight on Ebay , I have quoted 2.50 for UK , but the guy questioning me is in Italy.

If it weighs 250g it will cost £2.28 as an airmail small packet (or £1.64 surface).

Hi Karen, I've moved this to the 'Ebay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales' Board :)

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

This needs to be packed with some care reinforced each side with thick card maybe to make sure that is does not end up bent or broken. International postage is priced purely on weight so you don't have to worry about making the parcel thicker. Most economical is small packet which covers up to 36 pounds with a certificate of posting

    for prices.

Hasn't Italy been flagged as a problem posting area? Just to cheer you up!

There have been a few threads on here about this and the Italian postal service does not have a reputation for being very efficient - slow and maybe a higher than average level of lost items. As long as you have a CoP and can claim from RM you are covered.

I've sent quite a lot to Italy and not had any problems so I don't think it is too bad. These forums inevitably deal with difficulties people are having and it is easy to get the impression that the post, paypal and ebay are complete disaster areas. Of course most of the time everything works fine.

Italy is very slow, even as far back as 1998/99 when I worked in an International College there were problems. If you do decide to ship to Italy, I would also mention in your email that there are often delays in post reaching its destination.
