Plonking Natwest Bank!!!!

Hi again (sorry for the long post)

Any Natwest staff - please can you respond

I have a step a/c with natwest (approx 4 years). Applied on line over 2 weeks ago for a current plus account. I received the documents to sign and returned it - enclosing my id. Well i called about a week later and was told it pending - but about to opened - plus they had a back log but i should check internet banking -so i would be able to see when it is opened.

I called back and spoke to someone who said they did not have my application at all - i called about 20 mins later to be told a different story -this is when i started to get worried (mostly because of my id). Eventually i asked 2 speak to a manager - who said she had no trace of my reference no - but would investigate because it didnt make sense to her- she said she would call me back the next day

NO phone call

I called 2 days later to be told that a letter had been sent to me from the manager saying that - unfortunately i seemed to have been mixed up with someone with the same name and there is now no trace ofmy reference no - so i should apply again.
I asked the person how this could be possibly - considering everytime i phoned they go through security with me- and each person has there own ref no - Anyway the natwest advisor said she couldnt understand at all.

I then spoke to the new accounts team - who again advised that the ref no does not exsist. But whilst i was speaking to him i logged into internet banking - and somehow there was a new account added. The advisor appoligised for the incorrect info that he had told me Bt then he said it was another step account that had been opened . i have now lodged a compaint -i have messed around by them -Natwest Any advice as to how to deal with Natwests !!!! up!!! Obviously to my advantage

thanks

The guy apologised to you and you have your account open so what more do you want?

    hi - I applied for a current plus not a step a/c

So no the account i applied for and received documentation regarding the current plus is not opened . If it was i would be annoyed with misinformation - but happy that i opened the account

When banks muck up like that, the best thing to do is find a current account in a bank you like the look off, contact Natwest via telephone or in the branch and ask them to send you a list of your direct debits.

They will either try and keep your custom by sorting the mess out, or they won't. If they won't then walk to the other bank.

Life is too short to spend trying to get good customer service out of companies.

BTW I use to be a Natwest Customer and left years ago because of their consistently bad service and rude branch staff attitude.

Hi Diva, I bank with Natwest and I find at least three phone calls on the same subject usually does the trick. I have been with them for almost 30 years, dont think I will bother changing now that I have got the hang of the three phone calls concept

I think it's worth changing, considering many banks seem to have managed to solve customer queries in one call. Imagine that!

Maybe you weren't/still aren't eligible for a full current account. Why did you open a step account in the first place?

I actually asked for a step account because i was already banking with Abbey (current a/c) and had just taken out a new mortgage so wanted to keep my payments seperate. My credit is not good - but i have banked with natwest now for about 4years and every month about 2k goes into my a/c

I have applied online before - and the application normally stops and says we can only offer step ac but this time it went further.

My biggest gripe is the different stories natwest kept giving me
