Frankly, with a name like 'dial a Dog Wash' I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!!!

I know my girl is a massive wriggler at the groomers, yet she's never come back with a nick, maybe a touch for 'razor rash' which has disappeared within 24 hrs anyway.

  • Thanks for your comments - yes, it's easy to have regrets in hindsight.

I am shocked to discover that there is no governing body for dog groomers in the UK. This leads me to believe that no formal qualification is required for what is such a highly skilled occupation.
  • Incidentally, I took the vet nurse's advice and did not apply Germolene but used a medicated anti-bacterial spray especially made for animals.
  • You don't need any formal qualifications to start a business like that, You can nowadays take a course you do from home which you get no physical hands on experience with the animals yet come out as a qualified dog groomer.

Ive done grooming before and Im not qualified and you'll be so suprised how many people arent - I have on the other hand had a good 6 years of hands on experience which let me run rings around the people who studied at home!

You cant really complain to anyone official about the experience but I would however be demanding a refund and any additional costs to you and your dog because you're well within your rights to do so, don't take no for an answer - if you had to take her to court you will win, vet records will go against her.

Also make sure you get on review sites, you'll be amazed at how much people read up on these things and as for her being insured she has to have insurance to go to peoples houses using that van and insurance against things like this, if she doesnt then tough luck to her.

I'm not saying accidents don't happen because they do, dogs can move suddenly etc but being upfront and honest with the owner and paying for any vet bills, free haircuts etc is the way to go about that, not hiding the fact she's done it and she would know that too.

I really wouldnt let it go if it was me, She only had to be honest with you and I'm sure you would of been understanding regarding cutting her paw and got it sorted with the vet but the fact she's hidden it is disgusting.
