Student Bank Accounts: Can you change the account?

Hiya :)

I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I'm still researching everything and I'd like to know please...

I'm currently with Natwest who I've been happy with for the past 8 years.

I'd like to stay with them but I have a Current Account and would like a Student Account if successful.

Can I change the account over to a student one or would it have to stay as a current one - I open a student account and get everything swapped over and close the current account?

If I stay at the same bank and do this, would I still get the interest free overdraft/rail card/other incentives?

Thanks guys :)

Many banks will simply update the existing a/c to a student a/c so there is no need of transferring anything. However, I don't specifically know about Natwest

Well as long as they don't change it this year you can.

I did it last year, upgraded my Card Plus account to a Student account and still got all the freebies like 5 year railcard and webcam. All my account details stayed the same so I didn't need to tell the SLC anything had changed
