Do BT do shorter, line-only contracts (with no call package)?

The PO is looking like the most logical choice, I'm going to give them a ring and ask how much it'd cost for an install at our premises.
And, of course, the Post Office's virtual system is run for them by a well-known telecoms company - BT!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    ;)

I'm not so bothered about whether it's actually maintained by BT or by a.n.other company - I'm just fed up with having to commit to stupid contract lengths and take up services I'm never going to use, all just because there's no telephony provider in the UK who provides ADSL-only telephone lines yet (i.e., with no voice service whatsoever running over them). If I had a few mill startup funding, I might go about arranging that myself, but I'm waiting for my numbers to come in until then!

I was shying away from the PO's service... Most probably because it's The Post Office (coming full circle anyone? I might try and find an old skool GPO logo to emboss onto my faceplate, haha) but I suppose it's potato / potato in terms of actual service. I do wonder how helpful the PO would be if I ever had a line fault compared to The Phone Co-Op...

Cheers again for all the info.
