Virgin phone line

Hi, I am currently on a virgin cable package including home telephone. Is it possible for me to phone a spanish mobile number and uk mobile numbers from one of the pre fix numbers on a virgin cable telephone line and how would I pay.

You won't be able to use 1899, 18185 or 18866 prefix providers but you can use any of the gateway providers shown in the MSE CallCheckers (you can dial 0871 numbers from a Virgin line - and IIRC, they charge the same as BT for such calls).

    Calls to Spanish mobiles.

    Calls to UK mobiles.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Though you can use 1899, 18866 and 18185 from cable lines using the 0808 nnn nnnn access numbers, slightly higher price than from BT lines.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Thanks for the info so far. Has anyone used any of the access numbers on Virgin residential phone with any joy. Have checked the Virgin price list for calls from a residential phone and they do not show a price for calling from an 0871 number. All the access numbers seem to start with 0871. Also am I right in saying that although the discount operator shows for example 6p per minute, that is fairly irrelevant as it is the price that virgin charges for an 0871 call that is reflected on my bill from them. Please bear with me on this as it is all new to me.

Lists the charges to the various 0871 numbers.

Though the last time I looked they were the actual listed prices (same as BT) except for higher connection fee.

Thanks for the link, but there is no price shown for 0871 754? does that mean 754 numbers are not accepted as a lot of the cheaper prefixs to mobiles seem to start with 754.

That would come under 0871 75.... at 6p per minute + 7p connection.

So, as you said last night, Virgin appears to charge the same 'per minute' rate as BT - but 1p more 'connection'.
