I wanted to delete a post I made because I think it is pointless and it asks me to put the reason for deletion, I know I don't have to put it, but can someone tell me why it asks? I mean, who's gonna know the reason if it's deleted anyway? That got me curious really.

No reason required...

I can see the 'Reason' messages on forums I'm a guide on.
Deleted posts look like this:
It helps if I can see why a post was deleted and decide if I actually want to see the deleted post (by clicking 'View Post'0 -
As sra has demonstrated, when you delete a post on a vBulletin powered forum, then the post is normally "soft deleted".
As far as a normal user is concerned, the post is deleted and gone. But for a Board Guide/Moderator/admin who has the correct permissions on a board, the post is still viewable.

That feature was only brought in for vBulletin version 3.7 if I remember correctly.
MSE appears to be running 3.6.5.
This mod/hack or a similar one would need to be installed on a board running pre version 3.7 software.

great feature showing all edits and has a compare mode to see exactly what was changed0 -
I haven't had to moderate or site admin on a board that has it installed yet.
