  • Hi

If you can't find the 6 for 93p, then it might help you to know that either £Stretcher or homebargains do the 4 for 99p ( Energizer, of course)

Although I agree this is good value for money. I still think rechargeable batteries are better for value. Plus they're for the environment in out green-washed state.
  • Its really worth checking out local uni's or college's. My uni (Oxford Brookes) sell AA batteries for 14p each in the computer services desk (open to all, no ID ever requested) so a standard pack of 4 costs 56p and 6 would be 84p!

They are also really cheap for other computer bits like ink cartridges, storage disks etc..
An HP 57 cartridge for example is £15.60, a 2gb memory stick is £6.11 and a microSD 128 memory card is just £2.26! :D

Can you put rechargeable batteries in any item or does it have to come specially fixed for rechargeable? Jo

in boots the other day i got packs of 20 AA or AAA panasonic batteries for £1.50 reduced from £5.99, also on 342. so i got 60 batteries for £3
  • rechargeable batteries should work in any item but check that it doesn't specifically say not to use them... tip: always keep some charged and ready to go - my son's torch uses them and yes, I forgot to charge some before cub camp....

There are lots of places to buy batteries on the web and they can be really cheap if you buy in bulk i.e. enough to offset the post charges.

Just looking, as a guide at Duracell AA batteries, at https://www.battery-force.co.uk you can buy them at between 0.34 to 0.48 each depending on the type of pack and the quantity.

Then there are the trade equivalents Duracell market Procell batteries for trade buyers which cost around 0.40 for AA (https://www.budgetbatteries.co.uk).

Rechargeable batteries are often better but they can loose their charge quite quickly but there is a new type of battery called Eneloop which claims to hold its charge for around a year. I have tried them and they so far seem very good but they are more expensive - you can get them on Amazon but if anyone knows of a cheap supply do let me know.

What confuses me is that there are TWO different types of rechargeable battery. I have some AAs and some AAAs and my AAA charger doesnt say which sort it charges :(

Apparently you should never mix the two different types.

Why does it have to be so complicated??
