Silverstone Grand Prix

I have just got tickets to the silverstone Grand Prix in July and am looking for a hotel for 5th and 6th july. I was hoping to get a cheap travelodge but have just been looking and found Nothing Available !! Does anyone have any good ideas? I was hoping to keep it as cheap as possible but don't fancy camping. We are coming from the north of England so don't mind being a half hour drive away but North rather than South.

    Hi

I live fairly close to Silverstone and I know it gets really busy. I suspect all the hotels will be booked up but there may be bed and breakfasts. We also have a youth hostel (Bradwell Abbey) if you are really trying to cut costs.

    This might be helpful.

    Good luck!

thanks !! that looks like a great place to start looking. My parents are coming so i'm not sure they would appreciate a youth hostel but b+b sounds great, I really got a shock when i saw the prices of some of the hotels.

I think you can get a park and ride bus from Towcester Racecourse, well thats what they have done previous years.

I take it you have general admission? The parking is a huge field, so try and make your car stand out else you'll never find it!

Getting there really early is a good plan (I usually aim to be there between 6 and 7am).

I go with work though and get corporate hospitality with parking. Still sit in the same traffic though ;). It is much better these days - they make the A14 one way only before and after the day's events.

Good idea. I will have to tie a red ribbon to the ariel or somthing. Do you have to buy a parking pass? I've been reading previous threads from last year and someone mentioned it. Although the park and ride does sound an alternative.

Buy a parking pass? You should have one already. You get a choice of 4 parking passes
1/ At the track itself - £15 and now sold out
    2/ M1 - Park and Ride - Towchester - Sold Out
    3/ M1 - Park and Ride - Six Fields
    4/ M40 - Park and Ride - ???

You should of choosen when buying your tickets.

On race day Park and Ride really is the best option. Last year as soon as we hit the traffic we got off the bus and walked, about 15-20 mins but saved at least an hour sitting in traffic:rolleyes:

Look on eBay nearer the event and a local school allows people to park in their playgrounds, they even give you bacon/sauage roll tea/coffee and all for £15 to the school funds

Looking for a hotel? Look further... Northampton, Rugby, Coventry?

Thanks for the info Smi1er. It wasn't me that bought the tickets so i had better check that out tomorrow. Hopefully it will already be sorted out.

I've have just bought my tickets (though not from Silverstone direct, as the parking was already sold out with them) and booked a Hotel.

I was aiming to get within 10 miles of the circuit, so tried every B&B I could find - all full. There are still a few hotels a little further out (I found and booked one 20 miles away) - still expensive though.

If you're still looking, have you thought about hiring a Motorhome and using the adjacent camp field? It was my final option and would have actually been much more convenient and cheaper. Only reason I didn't do that was because I *really* wanted to use my car this year.
