Up to the age of 1 year old a child could live in the parents room.... so unless you living with the parents that would be better to just rent etc.0

Unfortunately that is the case! We'd been renting for the last 4 years but just before we found out about the baby we got a letter saying we had to move out as the landlord was renovating the flat! So we decided to move in with my folks for a bit while we look for a house to buy.0 -
how about live with the folks for as long as possible then rent for a year? (Try and find a cheap place maybe)
Otherwise its a tough call

OK, more questions!
I've been looking at mortgages and think I want a 3 year fixed deal. There's one at HSBC at 5.53% which seems good and they can give me an agreement in principle online - will that be instant or does someone review it and get back to me? Is it worth getting this done now so we can start viewing properties ASAP - I presume its not binding, so in the meantime I can consult a broker to see if they can find something better? What would happen if they drop that deal after the agreement in principle, are they obliged to still offer it or would I need to then start again?0
