Saving limit for HB and JSA

hi,

I have applied for HB and JSA and have a meeting tommorrow with the Job centre. Does anyone know how much savings you are allowed before they reduce the payments? I have a couple of hundred pounds - would this affect it?

Not at all. It's about £16k to not get anything.
Between £6-16k it's a sliding scale for how much you get

Hello there, PosturesNew, are you sure about that?? I thought that for single people it is about 3K when you start to loose your benefits, perhaps 6K for couples. Can you pls clarify.

It is definitely £6K for singles, as described by PasturesNew x

as dmg says its 6k for couples or singles,for every £250 of savings over 6k you lose £1 in benefit,once your savings hit 16k you lose all means tested benefits

The allowance used to be 3k for single, thats probs what your thinking of.
