Wow! Thanks for that, some excellent offers there!
Also thanks for the warm welcome.
If anyone else finds any cheap deals preferably around £10 then please post!
Thanks.0 -
Virgin trains has advance tickets (singles) at around £10 per passenger if you buy early. Chiltern still looks cheaper (assuming the £4 tickets are available for your date of travel).
Take a look at Martin's Cheap Train Tickets article if you've not already0 -

Also try the route from Paddington up to New Street......whoever does that now.....presumably Chiltern is the name for the slow train on the Virgin route?illegitimi non carborundum0

There's no longer a route (well not with through trains anyway) from Paddington.
Chlitern run from Marylebone.
The slow train on the Virgin route (cheapish for walk on fares) was Silverlink but I think they have changed their name - London Midland??0 -

It's £30.50 saver return each if you specify a route of via Burnley. Obviously you have to travel that (less frequent) route if you get those tickets but you don't have to book in advance.
Can't see it being much cheaper - no advance singles that I can see and splitting (at Manchester??) won't have much impact.0
