I agree with the random thing - just checked yesterdays £5000 winner and I was 6 points off!!! Much better than last weeks score! But thats the thing - we can get our head round them now we get it but I bet we all had crappy scores the first week cos it was new!0

Can anyone please clarify something for me.
If I pass on the first question in the Weekly Quiz then answer all the others, does it come back to the question I passed on or will I have missed my chance to answer altogether

OK so we all believe this weeks result was above board and the comp isn't just a scam.
It is obviously just a weird coincidence that after taking over 2 hours to pick a winner they just happen to be called "LUKE O ZADE"
While the Avatar system and weekly draw are great the weekly comp, like all highest score and fastest time comps, is a badly conceived scheme just begging to be hacked.
I have to agree a random draw for everyone who gets all the answers correct would have been the only fair way to do things. A leader board of fastest times, just for fun, would keep the element of competitiveness.
There is no point disqualifying people who gain an advantage by playing by the rules. The rules say "One entry per person" and therefore allow every person in your family to have a go and you can gain an advantage simply by watching their attempts. By disqualifying people because they have spouses, children or relatives playing the competition you just eliminate valid entries and allow more devious operators to win because they have used an "undetectable" method to get the same advantage,
And if you think there are no undetectable methods here are three of the top of my head.
1) Working as a team, one person records the questions while getting a rubbish score.
The second person, at a different address, takes their time, looks over the recorded questions, works out the answers, then puts in a fast entry.
2) Working from two locations - Work/Home, Mates House/Own House, Internet Cafe/Home.
At one location entries are made under false ids until all the answers are correct.
At the second location, armed with the answers, the proper entry is made.
3) Dial up / broadband.
A spare PC is used on dial up, with false ids, to try out the questions.
The normal PC on broadband (different IP address) is used for the proper entry.
On top of this, for someone who knows what there are doing, there are probably ways to distort the timing on your PC to make a entry that takes 5 minutes to complete look like it only took 30 seconds.
The way the competition is being run it is an open invitation to be exploited. It would be very difficult to get the sort of scores that are winning without having seen the answers first and, if Juliepink's experience is anything to go by, the naive approach to disqualifying people will simply end up taking the prize away from legitimate entrants, who aren't hiding anything, and handing it over to those using more devious methods. :rolleyes:Well, you know, my ancestry isn't all hamster.
I'm one-sixteenth wolf with, you know, a little wolverine in there somewhere.0 -
hamster has summed up the position perfectly. I completely agree.
Any on-line highest score comp will be hacked in some way and even more so where the prize is so attractive.
However, I don't see how they can change the rules now. I will carry on playing the weekly game cause it's a bit of fun but without any expectation of being among the top scores.0 -

I also agree!
Well said Hamster! :T
The weekly game is just a bit of fun to me, I don't expect myself or anyone else who is really playing fairly will win (though I could be wrong).
All of us who are playing by the rules just have to hope we get a look in with the Daily Quiz.
Good luck MSErs
