If everything is amicable then there is no need to involve solicitors, they will just take your money for nothing.

    I couldn't disagree more.
Things can be apparently amicable at the beginning then just wait til one partner gets involved with someone new who resents the 'friendly' agreement in place.

Sorry, but with children involved I believe it's a must to use solicitors and even then you can't be sure it'll all be done fair and square - believe me, I'm speaking from experience!
    Good luck.
  • I'm in Scotland (the law is different, be aware) I contacted a solicitor and explained that I needed a divorce, 3 children involved, very amicible and clean cut. They gave me a figure before they started and said that there would be no additional costs if it was straight forward. They also let me pay it in instalments. If I remember correctly then it was approx £450.00/£600.00

Sorry but I'm never too sure what the problem is here - is no-one allowed to make a first post without it being viewed suspiciously?
Doesn't really matter does it -personally I found the discussion and exchange of views interesting and others might too.

Please also search for blog divorce online and solicitors from hell. I cant post the links because I am a new user.

I have not mention my own blog to avoid accusations of bias or personal vendetta, I am trying to show that there are many complaints about this company online.

Moderators: this is a legitimate rant; its not just personal opinion surely you dont think I influenced the thisismoney website?

Please be reasonable; the people behind this company are below your radar and I am trying to highlight the fact that they are part of a corporate group perpetrating the same sharp practice.

Communicate with me so we can establish what I can and cannot post rather than just deleting vital information which I have posted to help people avoid being ripped off.

Im with the DIY brigade on this one...its cheaper than using these online companies....They cant speed things up, how quickly a divorce goes through is dependant on the courts...All these companies do are things that the individual can do themselves. The courts are very helpful when filling out the required forms so avoid the online companies(and solicitors if its amicable) and DIY
