Plastering help needed please

We have had new upvc doors installed and the fitters, not to put too fine a point on it, have made a complete bollox of the wall around the door.

The plaster is back to the brickwork and some points.

We need to decorate and being good money savers OH is gonna do the *patching up* ~ however, we dont know what *gear* to get.

Is there a full ready mix or do we need the browning and ***** (only plastering word that springs to mind!!)

Thanks in advance :D

The only gear you need is a phone. Tell the window people to come back.

If you are going to use browning to patch you will then need to skim over the top using a product such as thistle multi-finish plaster which is available at b and q it is not an easy job to get right. It is obviously hard to give detail without seeing because you may also need to fix beading etc round the reveals. I know it is not the answer you want but I would contact the fitters, to see if they are prepared to sort it, however, if they have not priced to make good you propbably will need to do this yourself. I would get a quote from a local plasterer to avert more disasters because you could end up with it looking worse, and then still have to get someone in to rectify it. It seems a shame to have gone to the expense that you already have done and then cut corners. That is likely to be a reasonably quick job for a plasterer, shouldn't cost too much!!

Use some one coat plaster. You will have to mix it yourself. Damp the area to be patched this will kill the suction or use pva.
Fill with plaster, smooth best you can,let this firm up for a while then fill some more if needed and smooth off again.
    leave to set hard.
    Sand down after if needed.

I strongly advise you to search the web for people's experience of using one coat plaster. I think it is less forgiving than the stuff we use and can be hard to apply to a good standard. Just a thought!!

I've used stuff made by Pollyfilla. Its a grey coloured 'Plaster', premixed, very light weight and is good on holes up to 2 inches deep. For a non-plasterer, i've used it with great success and good finishes. But can I remember what it is called....?

I'd agree with this - it's normal for the price to include "making good". Any reason you can't do that? It is the best money saving option.
