Need Advice on ticket touting..

I consider myself fairly in the know about music, and am currently considering 'ticket touting' on ebay.
Although morally wrong I suppose, I myself have been unlucky in getting tickets for my favourite bands and so I thought i'd give it a try considering my music knowledge
Sometimes it seems like a high buy-in and a high risk, but after missing the chance to buy a tickets for The Killers for £20 only to see them go on ebay for £800, i feel like I should get in there a little bit
So has anyone had any previous experience on this?

Very contentious subject on here - personally I don't see the problem with starting high demand tickets at 99p and letting market forces work their magic, however that makes me Satan with a PowerSeller logo in the eyes of many...
Just don't consider footy tickets - not only are they forbidden on eBay, but it also "really upsets" certain members of the board

It's not a nice thing to do, and I really feel ebay should address the way they approach ticket sales. It wouldn't be hard as they already have a face value section when you put tickets up for sale, they just need to add a function where 10% or maybe £10 gets added onto the sale price to reimburse sellers costs they have paid, then everyone is happy!
I've sold tickets on ebay before, but only at face value + fees. Maybe not the answer you wanted, but I bet you'd have been happy if the Killers tickets had been like that. It would make the Music |Lovers world a much happier place.

Ebay do allow the selling of tickets but with quite a few restrictions placed on their sale, I bid a fair bit on tickets and would think that sometimes as many as half the auctionsI watch get pulled before they close.
The most common reason for being pulled is not having the tickets in hand and/or not being able to suppply them within 30 days. Sellers doing this worry me a lot as we get endless threads on here from people that have been scammed as they have purchased tickets well in advance and then when they don't turn up find they can do nothing as the seller has long gone and they are out of time for any sort of dispute.
However, as long as the terms and conditions or sale both from the original supplier of tickets and from ebay are adhered to, they are allowed.
As mentioned in the earlier post though football tickets are specifically excluded. Ebay also exclude other categories of tickets, like charity events, on an ad hoc basis. So for anyone selling tickets always check that your tickets are allowed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
