Best Places to buy Bathroom Suites

Options
Where is the best place(s) to buy bathroom suites ? most bathroom places seem to want to design, install etc, I just want to buy the kit and install it.
B&Q, MFI online ?

based in Edinburgh
Thanks

  • Definitely buy online - take a look at a few bathroom showrooms to get an idea of what you want, but I don't really rate b&q and mfi for value/quality compared to what you can get on the internet. I found a few good suppliers on ebay and bought nearly all of my two bathrooms from them. The only thing I would say is that I couldn't source everything from one supplier which added to the delivery costs and hassle. I was especially impressed by Primrose Bathrooms - really good service and fast delivery. I am still waiting for a bath I ordered two weeks ago though from Tradeplumbing.co.uk though so it's not all perfect! On the other hand, I am still waiting for bits of my b&q kitchen so the sheds are also not the best for delivery.

And definitely dont buy from MFI - parts missing (which they will not provide if you dont claim within 24hrs of delivery, we had the plumber booked for a week later) and so far in 2 years the toilet seat has broken twice and now the flush system has broken - the part cannot be bought as MFI do not use standard parts
Plumber said worst quality he had ever seen and lousy parts too - he told me to only ever go to bathroom shops - they are the experts and to never use a DIY store for bathrooms. Many will just sell you the bathroom and I think the design bit is free
Hope you find a great suite
    Good Luck

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

Good morning: Try local plumbers' merchants or national chains eg. PTS is used on a weekly basis for plumbing and heating by my OH..another option is City Plumbing ...both have branches in your neck of the woods. Choose name brand sanitaryware and brassware eg. Ideal Standard, Mira, Bristan etc. rather than the generic.

Good morning: Anyone can shop in plumbers' merchants.;) My OH does not enjoy fitting the gear from Bathstore and advises his customers accordingly.

Is there any reason why he doesn't like bathstore fitting, surely it's all standard sizes ? or are they like mFI as quoted above using bespoke kit ?

    Again thanks

Hi...nothing to do with sizing, related to quality of their products (eg. surface imperfections in sanitaryware and the fittings supplied with the gear) If the items supplied by the client need to be replaced, the client will incur additional labour charges. He has been in the plumbing and heating game since the 1970s and has seen the standard of materials decline over the years ... price drives everything including installation and quality all round has suffered.
