Credit Check for bank JOb will i pass?

Hi there, i have had three interviews for a job with a bank as a clerk i think they call it!
I have been offered the job conditional offer, subject to credit checks and referencing checks,
Whilst in my interview i was asked to open up a staff account, gold thingy, i got accepted but only for a cash card?
will this mean i will fail a credit check??
I do appear to have a low credit score 680 roughly as i keep an eye on my finances, but in my whole credit history i have only made three late payments, two were a dispute i had with orange because they were charging me for bundles with orange phone company and i hadnt asked for them, not an actual dispute on my credit thing, one late payment around three years ago, and one a couple of months ago, i paid late so got a one but then have continued to pay normally the other times, and the other was on a studio account, i missed a payment of 10 about november time but again have since continued to pay and only have a 1 with them. That is the only bad thing on my credit, i feel my score is low because i havent lived at my address for three years yet and because i only lived at my previous address for 7 months because it was bloody awful, we rent.
I have a fair amount of debt, a loan for 4000, an overdraft for 2000, a credit card for 850 and little things like next account 200, but this is both mine and my partners debt, but in my name.
Everyone i ask says they look for ccjs etc and i definatly have nothing like that but i cannot put my mind at rest, has anyone else experienced this?
and that if i have been accepted for a gold account i will be fine but having a cash card seems bad to me? although they use your credit score for credit dont they but when looking at me for a job they dont score they just look at your situation.
Would i be a risk? also me and my partner are not married just living together and we are linked by a joint account opened many moons ago, do they check him too?
Thanks for your help, it would be greatly appreciated as i am a bit of a worrier and feel this is dominating my life at the mo, also they do seem to be pretty slow as my bits havent even been sent off to kroll yet.
P.s. i currently work for a bureau de change and passed a credit check when i started two years ago but i have a little bit more debt then when i started and i dont think they were as strict as banks!
thankyou

Hi Yoooh4
From experience, when applying for a bank job they do a credit reference check, and I dont think the score is SO important. However, you need to be honest about your finances more than anything. Failure to open up to them, could lead your integrity being flawed which is a key for working in a bank.
(ps, this is from my experience, and banks probably have their own recruiting policies)

so far as I know they'll want to know if you have a CCJ, IVA or BR....not much else....please don't worry...in the scale of things your debts aren't a lot!For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070

regards the studio thing i meant i missed a pyment of about ten pound, not ten payments, when i rang up the hr department i asked for advice when i mentioned i was concerned about the credit check and i told him why and he laughed and said i shouldnt worry as my credit report sounds pretty squeaky to him, although when you read up people say different things dont they!
I dont feel i have anything to be honest about tho, if i had ccjs or va etc i probably wouldnt have even considered applying for a bank as i know about the credit check thing, im just a worrier and also seem to get these letters on a sat when i can do nothing abou tit other than stew for another weekend.

I used to recruit for a major bank - a long time ago, though.
Credit checks were to identify people who had problems controlling their finances. We would even take people with CCJs etc if there was proof that the person was paying the debt off and not sticking their head in the sand. From what you've described, I don't think you should have any problems at all.
don't know why you got a cash card rather than a current account. Might just be that bank's policy, or based on salary?0 -

Hello.
Can anyone help me?
I have got an interview for a job with Barclays working in a call centre. I have to have a credit check, I have a defaulted overdraft of £1400 which has been refered to a collection agency and I have not heard anything from them since November and thus have not paid. I have also a defaulted credit card of £500 which I also have not paid since November as I have not heard from them.
Is it likely I will fail credit check or are they mostly looking for CCJs and BR?0 -

Again, this is from experience some time ago and policy may have changed. We wouldn't progress someone who had any kind of debts which were being "ignored". We did accept CCJs etc if there was evidence they were being paid off.
this applied to call centre staff as well as the other grades. We were looking to see that people were in control of their own finances. To have two debts escalated and no action on them would have you screened out.0 -

Have a think about how you are going to pay it off as part of your preparation for the interview.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I'm aware a "cut-off" rule applies so that any money problems older than six years are not taken into account when applying for credit now. If applying for a job with a bank, are old, historic, money problems taken into account, as I had a CCJ in 1988 shortly after leaving university. I mentioned this to the recruiter when on a second-stage interview for working in a bank: she said something that old would probably be discounted and not to worry about it. On her advice I therefore treated the application form as only pertaining to the past six years and filled it in accordingly. As I have been allowed credit in the past six years - credit card and overdraft facilities - and have only occassionally been late with repayments - I assume any problems from 24 years ago are forgotten and will not be held against me, in fact legally cannot be held against me.
Is this the case and will they go back this far?
If so it is woefully unfair, as a statute of limitations applies even to murder - after six years it is treated as a spent conviction. I cannot believe past money problems are treated less leniently than murder?
Can anyone assist?0
