w800i ....any help please

hi
last week i got a sony ericsson w800i phone but im having trouble putting music on it.
on my pc some files are unnamed so i renamed all the tracks with the correct song title but when i transfer the tracks to the phone they still show cd1 track 1 even though on the pc they are named correctly.

any one help with htis problem or have any other tips regarding transfering music and video files?

thanks

Try opening the files in windows media player, then play one and whilst its playing right hand click the file playing and choose Advanced Tag Editor

  • thanks mr skint but i tried that.
when i renamed it by doing that it shows the correct track in wmp but still just shows track 1 etc when i use disc2phone to transfer to phone.

  • also does anyone no much about downloading games?
can you download from the net to your pc then transfer to phone or do you have to use wap to get directly to your phone?

try here for info on the games question (yes you can download to your pc and go from there): http://www.zedge.no/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=168116

as to the music issue - i believe you need to make sure that the files are located in the right place (apparently the included disc2phone software should do this for you) something like:

    (Root folder)MP3/(Subfolder)Artist/(Sub-Sub Folder)Album

    so

    MP3
    Artist
Album <- actual files in this folder

That may be the reason they aren't showing properly - my W800i is on order (waiting on stock) so i can't be sure. Yet ;)

ok.... assumption time (which i hate)

i'm going to guess that you can't transfer the .jar files for the games (downloaded from t'internet to pc) via either bluetooth or infrared

this might be because you haven't got the relevant dongles etc on your pc or because the weasels at sharp have prevented those files from being transferred in that manner to force people to use wap and premium sites etc etc etc (wow, i'm extra cynical when it's past my bedtime ;))

soooo, the only other option you have would be to upload the .jar files to some webspace and then browse to it on your mobile and download the files to it from there...the only consolation in that would be that the games are at least still free.

of course if i'm just overtired and you can transfer the .jar files via BT or IR then presumably it's just a case of working out where to put them???

    ramble ramble etc.

    try these:

    http://www.getjar.com/software
http://maestro.intramail.ru/files/java/index.php (not sure if these will work as they are for SE phones but if they do then there's loads there)
