I kind of felt sorry for him till he stated that he was going to fight it all the way even though Capitol One had offered half the charges back.

He played them, he slipped up and they charged him. But looks like the Financial Ombudsman's office will get the rest of his(?) (the CC charges) back anyway.

Not quite so financially "savvy" afterall but maybe just a little bit lucky!

He says he can't remember receiving the letter...

If he's that financially savvy then he should know that most of the CC companies are charging for this sort of thing and should have been onthe lookout for it.

What next, complaining because he didn't read the T&C's on the account?

    Oh, wait...

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for him.

Not much of a stoozer really then. All that effort each month, just for £300 a year ?
A real stoozer would have taken the max from the first cheque at 0% for a month, then paid it back from a mule card or other SBT, then had 9 or 12 months to pay the entire amount back.
Karma is a wonderful thing. ;)

    Hmm.
£300 a year for a bit of work or spend the time watching TV maybe. It's not much work to fill in a cheque every month.
You know presumably that he can get such a deal on cards and isn't already maxed on the one's he has?
What he's doing seems like a lot less work than applying for a credit card.

The issue is that the cheques were issued as free then the t's & C's were changed and he says he wasn't notified.
I would say that if I was sent a cheque which had a promotion to persuade me to use it I would expect any time limit on the promotion to be presented with the initial offer.
