Cardiff Heath Hosp car park

I know the rules have changed on paying for parking at hospitals in Wales. What I want to know is, have they been implemented yet and how does it work at Heath Hospital now?

I.e. is it free and is it easy to get a space at about 2pm on a Monday?

as far as i can remember it is not free, something to do with current contract expiring with the company that runs the parking in the heath hospital

for an appointment at 2pm on a monday arrive at least 30 minutes early to get a definate space

    hope this make sense!

hospital car parking in wales is now free unless the hospital has an existing contract with a private company to manage their car parks. where such contracts exist (eg at the Heath) the charges will remain until that contract expires, but must be lowered.

the contract for the heath runs until 2021 so you'll be paying to park there for a while yet!

    i wouldnt hold your breath!

there's bound to be some stipulation that prices must be lowered within a 'reasonable' time frame, but i bet that you and i have very different interpretations of the word reasonable to the company that has the contract  :D

i cant personally complain though, the heath is so well serviced by cardiff bus that i never take the car when i go for an outpatient check up. suppose it would be different if i was visiting and likely to be there longer/more frequently

Hi was in Heath Hospital yesterday and we paid £2.20 to park, cant remember if it was up to 3 or 4 hours for that price but that was the basic charge.

I was there today (and will be there tomorrow too, bar humbug) £2.20 for 4 hours I think...I'll double check tomorrow. I would cyclce but as DS has broken his arm it rather restricts how we get there.

  • It's £2.20 for 4 hours and then it goes up roughly a pound an hour after that. I'm a medical student communting there - I park a mile away and walk because there's no way I could afford that every day! They didn't reduce the prices at all from what I can see, which I'm pretty sure they should have!

Time wise I think you'll be ok, a little later on it's busier, and mid morning is busy.

FYI - Llandough, Singleton in Swansea, Morriston in Swansea are all free, Bridgend and Neath aren't and am not sure about Royal Glam and Royal Gwent!

Don't know if Royal Glam is free but it was always cheap as chips compared to the Heath anyway.

My friend is a doc there and used to pay something like 60p a day. It was a bit more for public but not much.
:D Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today. :D
