removing icebox from fridge

Hi
Could anyone please advise whether I can remove the icebox compartment from my fridge? The door has broken and it now just clogs up with ice. We don't use it anyway as we have a separate freezer so i thought if I could remove the icebox from the fridge it would give me much needed extra space and avoid me having to buy a new fridge? Any advice welcome.

Thanks
What larks eh Pip?

I wouldnt do that as the cooling elements normally run round the outside of the ice compartment, thats how it gets colder than the fridge and if you damage them you will lose all the cooling gas from the fridge.
    Sorry to dissapoint you
