Are Southern Electric trying it on with my gas bill?
I have always been using Southern Electric for my gas supply and normally they send me an estimated bill for around 50 pound per bill, I recently changed my energy supplier to utility warehouse, but didn't like their service so have since changed back to southern electric, but in the meantime have recieved a final bill from southern electric for 425 pound and it says based on an actual meter reading. Now the previous bill for 50 pound their estimated meter reading was 325 - 515 total 190 units used. The final bill which they say is based on ACTUAL meter reading says from 515 - 2231 so total 1716 units used. giving me a bill of 425 pound.
I phoned southern electric this morning but as its saturday they were unable to explain, but they did say they thought i have moved out of my property and no longer living there, i have checked the reading myself and its only at 898, so surely my bill should be from 515 - 898, not the 515 - 2231 which they are claiming for.
Are southern electric trying it on with me as they are under the assumption that I have moved and unable to prove my actual meter reading?
I have read a few forums on this and it seems like its not just me this has happened to? And surely this is criminal?

If you have gone back to SSE, they should have an open account for you so that should let them know where you live.
Give them the reading and they can correct both accounts, as the opening reading for your new account will be wrong as well.0 -
I will give them readings when i call back monday, they assumed I had moved out as I never mentioned about moving, only changing supplier. I just want to know are they trying it on with me, how can they give me a bill which they say is based on an actual meter reading of 2231 when the actual reading on my meter is 898.
So what if I had actually moved out of my house, how would i then prove that they are wrong? I would be forced to pay this bill even though it seems they have made the mistake0 -
Don't get lost on criminal or on phoning up to get to the bottom of this. You just need readings. What is not clear to me is whether this is SE's bill from the end of your previous term with them, or relating to the new term?... Either case, you need to check that SE's finish and UW's start readings are the same for the end of the first term and that UW's finish and SE's start are the same for the new term,After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union

This is SE's final bill from the end of my previous term, the reading from the previous bill from that was 325 - 515, then final reading of 515 - 2231. So far i have not received UW's bill neither SE's new term bill.
Thanks for your advice0 -
OK, becoming a lot clearer. For the time being, just write and dispute the reading and mention the value and date of the current reading, and wait for UW to provide a new bill. Do you have your own readings from the changeover dates? This is SE's final bill from the end of my previous term, the reading from the previous bill from that was 325 - 515, then final reading of 515 - 2231.
