  • I have received in October a p800 revised tax calculation for 2008/9 and 2009/10 saying I have underpaid by £1261.60. I receive a pension from BAe systems and work part time for the council. I am totally confused with this demand as I have had working tax credits for the past 5 years and as far as I am aware have given HMRC all the details about my pension and earnings. I informed Paymasters when I started work at the council that I received a pension from BAe. Surely they should have informed me of the correct tax code. I am really annoyed about this error and someone should be held responsible for this mistake.
  • I am an employees and have a company car. I take a reduction for benefit in kind to the tune of £3600 per annum, reduced by £252 for private use. My question is this; tyres and servicing are paid for by the company but they expect me to fund any other wear and tear, scrapes, windscreen chips or indeed the excess should the car get damaged and they cannot recover from another party etc etc. I believe that this sort cost should be offset against my P11D as a further contribution should the situation arise. They don't.. If they are correct and I'm not convinced they are. Can I put this down as an expense when I complete my tax return at the end of the year?

    Hi,
This is my first post on this site as i usually find what am looking for but cant find one on here for my dilemma.

Ok so here it is ... i have my own business which has really struggled the last two years but on year ending 2009/2010 i had a tax bill of 5000 pounds
i still have around 4k outstanding to pay but in year ending 2010/2011 i made only 4k profit, and this year so far from arpil 2011 i have only made 2600 pounds profit.

So basically my question is do i get some of my tax off my 4k tax bill?
  • Hi all I have use of a company van after 01-05-12 I am no longer allowed to use the van for private mileage and HMRC have been informed by my employers
My question is I work on the same site as a maintenance engineer I use the van to travel to and from work and for the running of the site.
Under the current tax laws is the journey to and from work using the van is the mileage classed as private or personal mileage
    many thanks
