Single Item Valuable cover (Abroad 35 Days)

Hi,

I have a quick question - I want to cover my camera (£280) for a 35 day trip around multiple European countries.

My student contents insurance will only cover for a trip 30 days or less and they wont extend this.
My travel insurance only covers up to £250 valuables with a £200 limit per item (If I loose/gets stolen my camera I presume I will have other valuables on me over this limit. - They wont do any addon cover either

Can anyone advise me if its possible to get cover for my camera only for 35 days abroad for a reasonable amount?

Thanks

    Hi there,

Take it you are at uni? Do you still "live" with your parents? If so, ask them to contact their home insurers and check whether they will already be providing the cover.

The company I work for consider that students are still classed as living at home when they are not attending university. As such, if you were insured with them and lost/broke the camera whilst on holiday, they would pay up for a new one.

Remember that most travel insurers would make a "wear and tear" deduction so unless the camera was brand new to start with, you are better off claiming from your parents policy where the cover is new for old.

Yes I would be living at home during this time. Thanks for the advice, I have asked if I would be covered my mums insurer (unfortunately as it happens also endsleigh) but they want another £35 and would only cover on trips for under 30 days anyway.

Endsleigh are only a broker, not the insurer. They provide "branded" policies but the actual cover is provided by someone else. I suggest you get your parents to phone them again and ask them to speak to the insurer to see whether they can provide the cover.
