Claiming overdraft charge and missold account

Hi all,

I'm a new poster here and was wondering if anybody could give me some advice please.

Here is the situation :

I have a RBS Royalties bank account which costs me £15 per month. Firstly I believe I was missold this account. Due to a low credit score (Not a bad one but low because I only came back to UK last year after living abroad for 5 years) I do not get any of the normal benefits of that account. IE: No overdraft, no credit card, not even a debit card - All I get is a cheque book and a cash machine card. I do not see the point of having the Royalties account at £15 per month. Yet I am locked into a 12 month contract for it! When they processed my application they knew I couldn't get most of the benefits but still sold me the account. Is the fair or legal?

Secondly, I have just received my bank statement. In the middle of last month I was left with just over £10 in my account. The bank then took their £15 account fee out which left me £4 ish overdrawn for three days until my salary went in. I did NOT receive any form of letter. My bank statement now tells me that on the 22nd of this month they will be taking my normal £15 account fee plus a £28 "maintenace fee" because I went overdrawn!

What do you think the chances of reclaiming this £28 pound are?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Short term: medium to slim. If this is your first charge they may refund as GOGW if you ask firmly but politely. But don't hold your breath

    Long term: 99.99%

At 11 months send them written confirmation of the cancellation of the Royalties a/c
