No landline - no credit card?

in Credit cards
I don't have a credit history because I just moved 2 years ago in UK. I am on the electorall roll, I have 2 bank accounts. I have a mobile phone contract.
I tried to go for the Barclaycard Initial and they refused me because I don't have a landline. I tryed in branch because it's my bank and the lady there said that the aplication won't go through if I don't have a landline...
Does anyone know if I have a chance we other company? (I saw an application form for Vanquis and they ask for a landline compulsory too)
I'm really upset because it's seems like a stupid rule: I don't have a landline because I don't need it! And if I ever want a credit card I will have to make a contract for at least 100£ a year (I think) for something that I don't need and want. (and can't have because of my landlord...)

I've had CCs with NatWest, Halifax, GE & Abbey, all without a landline.0

But do they have something for beginers? I have never had a credit card and it seems that not having a credit history is as bad as having a bad one.
I really feel that I am at a dead end.0 -
Try Capital One Classic, they may give you a card!0

You can get yourself a Free Geographical Number here: www.orbtalk.co.uk that you could use.0

Or Sipgate https://www.sipgate.co.uk
You can chose a number from one of many cities/towns so there's no real way they can tell the difference. If you put a small amount of credit on the account you can set it up to redirect to your mobile.student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -

very interesting how much will u be charged to redirect calls?:hello:0 -
Just make one up or use your friends landline, they dont check. Bloody stupid requirement these days as they have electronic ID checking systems in place.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0
