Anyone got any advice for my MIL?
She bought a futon. The frame was correct, the matress incorrect.
She has spent forever trying to get the matress replaced through email and phone. The phone call resulted in a replacement matress getting delivered...the same incorrect matress. The delivery guys were obviously fed up she'd got the wrong thing as it appears to happen all the time.
After 3 months of hassle, she's decided that she's had enough now and no longer wants the frame, nor matress.
How does she go about getting a refund and argos to take the goods awy without having to spend hours on the phone or waiting 5 days inbetween emails for Argos to respond?

She could go direct to the small claim court (it costs £40 ithink)
but that cost will have to be covered by argos if she wins
you can do it all online @ https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp
put it in writing to argos first and send it recorded delivery. They'll probably want to pay up pretty fast to avoid the hassel of a small claim :-)

Take a big deep breath and pray for miracles :rotfl:
6 weeks ago I had a desk delivered and one of the parts was broken. I couldn't have just a replacement part, and the whole thing had to be returned and a new one delivered. At the moment, I've had a partial refund and I still have "box 2 of 2" as they would only collect one.
The best method of contacting them seems to be a recorded delivery letter demanding action by (date) to this address:
Customer Relations Team
Argos Direct
Acton Gate
Stafford
ST18 9AR
They take over a week to reply though, so don't hold your breath! Here I go again on my own....0
