I want to buy a mp3 player from ebay. It is not about the high P&P (actually it is OK, bid+P&P are still cheaper than the ones in shops).
It is just are they reliable? Seems to me that all of them are from HongKong.
Cheers

I bought one of those last christmas. I would avoid anyone that ships from outside the UK, as you run the risk of having to pay import tax. There are quite a few uk suppliers. Watch out for the people selling links to websites!0

I bought one for my boyfriend couple of weeks ago and it turned up fine. It was shipped from the UK though.
This is the person I bought from:

But they dont seem to have any more stock of things. I wonder why!
But I have bought stuff from ebay and got it delivered from Hongkong / Singapore and it all reached me fine. As far the total value is around £30 it does not attract VAT.The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0 -
I think its a bit lower actually, something like £18. Also, the biggest problem with buying from HK, Singapore, China, etc is if its faulty or goes wrong then you'll end up paying to return it and also P&P to have a new one sent back out. Seeing as these auctions are so heavily P&P loaded you have to ask yourself if you're willing to take the risk.
I was going to buy one off Ebay but ended up getting mine from Micro Direct. I ordered a red one. It was red in the picture, described as red but when it arrived it actually looked pink. I queried it and they said 'they are all like that' and to return it and they would send a silver one instead. All sorted, minimum of fuss. Now, if that had been from a HK seller i'm sure things would have been very different.
EDIT: Yes, its £18, see hereHe huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0 -
I recommend "electronic_super_deals" - I've bought 3 different ones at different times from him, they've all been super and he's been very helpful when I had problems getting some of the functions working on one of them.
However what Maelstrom says is very true - if you buy from anywhere abroad and there is a problem (eg. it doesn't work properly) you have to be prepared to return it at your own cost. From some sellers there is also very little help given after the sale which together with usually a lack of a 'users' booklet can be a problem.
You might say I was lucky to find my seller straight off, but I did do a lot of research on his feedback and other sales before I took the plunge.
NB. I never had to pay any customs duty either.0 -
I've only recently bought a Creative Zen Touch MP3 player from eBay, no complaints so far.0

Bought two in Hong Kong last Xmas. High P+P. No problem just remember as others have said you will have VAt to pay over £18, but on these thats about the price so you should be fine.
Small risk if it is knackered and has to be sent back but thats the risk you take not paying Hight Street prices.0 -
got one for my daughter last xmas,
decided on my maximum price (inc postage) and was determined not to go above it.
bid on about 20 in total.
eventually won a 512meg one for £16 (inc postage of £9 and insurance of £3)
was delivered from hong kong in 8 days.
daughter very happy
also recently bought a LED belt buckle for her for £8 (inc delivery) that arrived in 4 days from hong kong.
both items were under £18 so no duty to pay.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
I bought a cheapie from Hong Kong. Well it was OK I suppose when I put some decent headphones on it but I wish I had paid more for a better one.0
