Thank you all for the replies. The reason I didn't want a foot pump is because I am lazy and it would probably take me longer than an electric one.

The Truck Air looks a nice piece of kit but I don't have a 4x4 or a truck, lol.

Luckily I don't have to worry about noise and neighbours (for now anyway) as we are in the middle of nowhere.

Andy, the one you have runs just off the cigarette lighter but the one I linked to has a power cord. Would it have the option of using it for the cigarette lighter too do you think? :o

Sorry if I sound a bit thick, I'm just a mere female and up until recently mastered how to jump start the car and charge the battery. That was a proud moment! :rotfl:

I like my michelin Hi-Power rapid tyre inflator. It's a really well made but of kit and not overly loud.

The first time I used it it failed to get the tyre pressure correct. After turning it off and on it worked well. I don't know if the pump has a memory/computer which computes pressures better. I have checked my pressures using very accurate guages and worst case my compressor has been 1psi out.

I also have this one.Its very simple to use and very accurate as well. I think I paid around £35 for it from Halfrauds! :money:

The one you linked has a storage for a powercord, this is the 12V cigarette lighter cord which is hard wired into the pump. I honestly don't think it can ever be run from 240V house supply.

Be aware if your in halfords the normal (not hi-power) looks identical but is cheaper and is not as good.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

After searching for the cheapest Michelin rapid inflator prices the best one is:

    http://www.skidrive.co.uk/accessories/product_detail.php?partno=12262

No postage to pay. I've just ordered one and clean forgot to check out MSE first on comments from that company. Just found a post saying their customer service is appalling. I've never been with them before but will keep you posted on how I get on.

Ah right cheers, I was just reading the reviews for both on autoexpress and they both scored 4/5..don't think there is that much difference between both, just depends how much you want to spend.

My automatic electric one was made by Richmond, and was one of the best £20's I've ever spent.

You just plug it into the cigar lighter socket, attach the air hose (which is still OK, BTW) set the required pressure on the little LCD display and switch it on. When it reaches the required pressure, it switches off automatically.

IIRC, I got it from either Index (who are no longer in business) or Argos (there is nothing similar in the current catalogue).

PS. I can't remember when I checked my tyre pressures last - I think I ought to.
