Refunds possible on M&S money card?

Hi folks,

Could I possibly ask from some advice?

I have a M&S Money credit card which has a large credit balance following a refund.

As I don't use the card much, I was hoping to get the money refunded, but after calling M&S today, I was told that this couldn't be done, and instead I would have to spend the money to clear the balance.

Is this correct? It does seem odd that I can't get back money that I've previously paid to clear the balance.

Is it maybe something to do with the points scheme they run?

Most of the time they will send a cheque or BACS transfer, as long as it isn't an obvious attempt to get interest free cash from the card. Try phoning and asking again. If no joy, you could close the account, as they would have to return the money then.
