I have never seen them in supermarkets but I am sure you can get them in health food shops. I buy them by the 5Kg bag (lasts AGES) through my wholesale orders.

I tried leaving the pans upside down on the lawn overnight, it did not work, so I will try the salt method next.
  • I heard once that if you leave a pan upside down on grass overnight all the burned bits will come off easily. Not sure if this works.

Hmm. But not very moneysaving to move house just to get a lawn to clean my burnt pan. :)
  • My Mum was scottish and taught me that if you burn porridge you never stir it or try to get it out of the burnt pan, but instead leave the pan, full of the burned porridge until it is really cold - about 8 hours - then the porridge and all the burnt will just come out - the pan will be brown but no stuck on bits and you just put it in the dishwasher or give it a scrub with a nylon scrubber and it's good as new. I have done this many times and never had a problem.

I simmer porridge in teflon frying pan - much easier to clean the sticky gunk that's left.
never been able to get the porridge as nice and soft in the M-wave.
and when boils over - which is very often - it makes a mess of Mwave innards ( a right nuisance to clean).
I have big organic oats with loads of seeds and banana to sweeten it; it takes a long simmer to soften in all and to absorb the milk water mix.
any magic formula to get good results from Mwave would be appreciated!
