York Days Out

Options
Hello, we (me, hubby and 6 year old son) are off to York on Friday for the w/e - free accomadation curtsey of Tesco deals and cheap train travel with the family railcard!

We are going to go for all the obvious - rail museum, viking museum, city walls etc.

I can't find any vouchers so any pointers would be great, but really Im wondering if there are any less known attractions we should go for?

Thanks!

The National Railway Museum at York is Free

Other things you could do, fairly cheap, are a boat trip on the river, or a bus tour (all day ticket allows you to hop on and off and covers all main sites).

There's a very good model railway (though a bit pricey) at the main line railway station.

York dungeon and Yorvik centre are close to the castle/museum, but may be expensive.

As soon as you get there, pick up the freebie town guides (there's tourist information office at the railway station), they have discount vouchers for some of the attractions and restaurants etc.
