working tax credit?

Hi i renewed my Child Tax credit yesterday and when I told them our joint income I was advised I could take £3900 off for tax allowance as I was on maternity leave, this has now brought our total income for last year down to around £15,000, would this mean that I should have been entitled to working tax credit last year and if so would they pay it for the whole year or just back date it 3 months & also will they back date any child tax credit that i am due for the full year?

any help would be great.

thanks

    Hello Jules2776,

Now that you have completed your renewal and given your actual hh income for 07/08 TCO will re-calculate your entitlement for the year for both CTC & WTC and any monies due will be paid in a one-off payment.
Also, your 07/08 income will be used for this tax year (08/09) which will mean you get a small amount of WTC this tax year. Aslong as your income for this tax year is not more than £40,000 (£15,000 py income + £25,000 disregard).

    Hi Jules

I to will have to take £3900 off my P60, still waiting for it though. Keep me posted if TC's pay you what they owe in a one off payment.

    Many Thanks:beer:

    Hello fairplay4u,

I have alot of customers call up saying they would like to complete their renewal but are waiting for P60, if it was your only job for 07/08 we can accept your last payslip from March 2008 (aslong as it says Week 52 or Tax Period 12). If this applies you can do your renewal over the phone. In answer to your question, if money is due from a previous tax year it is always paid in a lump sum upon finalisation.
