blown cooker switch

Help

On friday we heard an extremely loud bang from the kitchen. On closer inspection the red indicator light on the cooker switch was found shattered with a slight burn mark on the switch.

Is it a big job to fix - the british gas engineer (who coincindently was servicing the boiler at the same time) said it might be the cooker element (it's intergrated - so I hope not).

Wife did ask him if it was something he was doing that could of caused it, which he denied.

Any ideas?

It is not a big job to replace the switch. If the switch and the cooker still work, probably something happened with the indicator light. I'd investigate the switch first.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU SWITHCH OFF VOLTAGE WITH THE SWITCH IN THE CONSUMER UNIT AND DOUBLE-CHECK THIS!
