Red skin from the Tesco bnatural cleanser, like Harryharp

I saw Harryharps post about the Tesco bnatural cleanser making her skin red & had to post this.
I'm a Liz Earle fan. I think the skin tonic lasts ages with the spritzer (6 months easily) & I think the moisturiser is good value ( I think its supposed to have over 200 squirts in a pump). But I think the cleanse & polish is pricey, as a pump has 66 squirts in it, so lasts a month.
Everyone on here has been raving about the Tesco new look-a-like cleanse & polish & it was 3 for 2 in Tesco.
Just paid up very expensive holiday & thought well its only a cleanser, I will give it another try (& carry on with the Liz for the skin tonic & moisturiser).
I did try the old bnatural cleanser - before I ever used Liz Earle. It was because I liked the method that I decided to try Liz. I preferred Liz C&P to Tesco look-a-like, but I always admitted that could be brand allure.
Anyway, so I bought 3 of the new bnatural organics as I was running low on the C&P.
Just like Harryharps, it made my skin look red & sunburned, it did fade after a half hour or an hour. But it felt sunburned initially.
Has anyone else had this?
Not very organic is it? They should have left the old ingredients:mad:

Wonder what ingredient they use to have that reaction? It could be an essential oil - I've put essential oils in the bath before (Geranium I think) and ended up with red skin for a few hours afterwards. Are there any essential oils on the ingredients list?0

There's your Geranium. The thing about essential oils is that you can use them safely when they are diluted in small quantities, but if you put pure Geranium oil in the bath without a 'carrier' oil (any oil suitable for massage) in too strong a concentration, it will make your skin red.
You may just have a faulty batch of cleanser that has too much Geranium in. When I worked as a beauty therapist using Clarins products, we were told that you cannot risk using Clarins products past their sell by date as the plant extracts in them can go toxic and irritate the skin. Not that you have bought an out of date product, but it just goes to prove that essential oils/plant extracts aren't as gentle as you'd expect sometimes!0 -

That's interesting. Geranium essential oil is in both of them (I'm assuming that's what 'Pelargonium Graveolens' is) so it can't be that. Must be one of the other ingredients then!
I was also quite disappointed, as I thought it smelt very nice and had a nice thick texture like c&p. Maybe I'll write a letter to Tesco about it if I have time...0 -

I thought the old one was much more like C&P.
This new one is much thinner, the old one stayed in a blob when you pumped it out, like the C&P. This stuff is thinner & drops flatter.
I bought mine in Surrey (just incase it is a faulty batch) where did you buy yours?0 -

It could still be the Geranium! What I was trying to say was that Geranium is fine as long as it is in the correct quantity! Too much of the stuff will cause redness. It seems the most likely candidate to me from that list - but the manufacturer should definitely be told.0 -
I've been using Tesco stuff for the last week or so. I've found it's definately not as thick as C&P and doesn't smell as nice. So far I haven't had a reaction to it although I have been mixing C&P with it to get used to it.
I got mine from Leybourne in Kent.0 -
