Mountain buggy 3 wheelers - opinioins?

Congratulations!
I was mad keen to have three wheeler with car seat attached at £400 or so. Right up until the point a friend who is a midwife told me about some research about long term damage caused by excessive use of car seats. Apparently the temptation is to leave your baby in it for hours as he stays asleep.
I bought a much cheaper three wheeler and separate car seat in last years colours saving us a small fortune. Try https://www.kiddicare.com
I use the three wheeler for country walks but find it too bulky for shopping. For that we had a £20 buggy that has done both babies. I also had a baby bjorn carrier which I have used for both, more for number two as I didn’t want a double buggy.
Things I have bought that have earned their keep – Berchet Baby Too – half bike, half buggy from 10 months, try Amazon, £20 buggy, sleeping bags, changing mats, back carrying rucksack, bumbo (although pricey for 6 months use), cot beds rather than cots so I don’t have to buy new beds for a couple of years.
Things that I would not have bought with hindsight – trippe trappe highchair (no 2 can climb out), galt playring and gym (both hated it), top and tail bowl, nappy wrapper bin, ball pool, bath seat, mountains of toys that have only been played with once, the three wheeler pram – the list is sadly endless!
I had a well paid job prior to number one son so had money to indulge my hormonal desires. Now I think very hard about purchases – and tend to restrict them to things I can see us getting a number of years use out of. You need to think very hard about what your lifestyle is likely to be and buy things suited to that. It is so easy to get carried away with the smiley happy baby well equipped fantasy like I did!

Forgot to mention in my earlier posts that with the mountain buggy you can buy a car seat adaptor so that you can then clip your car seat onto it. It only works with certain car seats though, you'd have to check out which ones with the retailers or the mountain buggy web-site. We had the maxi-cosy car seat which fitted.
You can also buy a carry-cot which also clips on, so that baby can lie completely flat.0 -
we had a jogger, and it was lovely, sandy beach, stony beach, forest, fields and roads. But after the hedge cutters went up the lanes punctures were a pain.
I have emmaljunga for long treks over road, umbrella buggy in the car, and the jogger for beachy foresty trips. Sounds extravagant I know, but we have built them up over 7 babies.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
MeMe! I'm due on 5 December too!!! :T
:T Will send you a private message.
Miranda - will take a look at the kari-me sling too, sounds good.
Chaliepud - Does the Instep Nipper work cross-country too?
Yoga Girl - We came to the conclusion that we wanted a Maxi Cosy Cabrio because of it's safety record, then found out it's compatible with the Mountain Buggy. I'm not into the car seat to pushchair thing though, so not sure if/how much I'd use it. Handy to know they're compatible though.
Gravitytolls - 7 babies!!!! How do you manage? Are they well spaced?
Thanks again to all for the useful tips.
love

The Nipper is great off road, I walk regularly in our country park and have no problems0
