I have also noticed that you were asking about a top denture only.

If you have some of your own teeth left in the lower jaw the stresses placed on inplants in the upper jaw can be massive. That often means the simplest solution is the best as reapirs and maintainance are that much easier.

You do know that implants are not fit and forget and even on an all in 4 the bridge part will need replacing in about 10 to 15 years so you also have to budget for this. Dentures retained by implants also need replacing in the same time frame but are much less expensive.

    Ohhh dear.

I'd stop drinking those clods then - they don't do you any good.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • I've needed some implants for a few years but have avoided it because of the cost, but decided I need to take the plunge and get them done in Hungary or Poland where I an told they are cheaper.

Trouble is, I do not know who to go to as when I search online a number of the sites look quite dodgy, so not sure who to trust!
  • Have you actually read the rest of the thread?

  • Dental implants are the best option to get a permanent solution to your tooth loss.

Cheaper or costlier the treatment procedures will mostly remains same. Speak to the dentist before starting the treatment and also about the after care procedures.

Specialist only can give better idea of dental implant and their procedures.

Some really interesting posts here but does anyone have any recommedations for dentists that they have used in London or know somebody that has used them?

If the price is right then I'm also happy to travel though possibly not as far as Cornwall.

If anyone has any suggestions then please post back or PM me.

I've been quoted between £1300 - £1400 from "implant specialists" that i found on the internet and £2,500 from the dentist who works from my local dentists. This is quite a significant difference.

I have already had a report done (at a cost of £100) so will share this with each of them and possibly save some time and money.

My plan is to shortlist a few, check out the facilities, hopefully met the dentist and then make a decision.

I'm a fit and heathy, 33 year old, non-smoker. The tooth lost is a front incisor. My teeth/gums are generally in good condition now. Any tooth problems are legacy of drinking alot of coca cola and tropicana as a teenager - I was very naive about how much sugar there is in fruit juice!

As a short term measure i have had denture fitted which I'm pleasantly surprised about. Eating is tricky and my speech was slightly slurred initially but getting used to it. This buys me a bit of time to shop around for an implant and looks surprisngly good.

I've pretty much ruled out travelling abroad as the time and travel costs remove alot of the savings. There is also a risk if it goes wrong. This concerns me a little though not as much as some posters here.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated!:T:T
  • My hubby had an experience of dental implants. He feels really happy after the dental implant; it has improved his overall Appearance, Speech, and comfort.

It a no brainer to go to Budapest just check out and find the best and you will get so much more than where 1 tooth = £1000 in the uk. Of course UK dentists will say the opposite but all professionals want the best value for their money and it's not in the UK.
