When your ex stops paying maintenance

Just a brief outline. Separated 8 years ago and divorced 5 years ago (which I did mysef) with three children. It was agreed from the onset that he would pay a set amount each month which he has right until this month and without warning there is no payment. Obviously I am going to have to ring him, but this month he had an argument with the children and I just wonder if he has withdrawn the money as they are not doing as he wants them to, i.e., ringing him - even though he does not ring them and never has.
My question is, where do I stand legally, if this is the case. We have never gone through the CSA and it was just an agreement between us. Would I now have to get the CSA or the courts involved.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that. An informal arrangement for maintenance is usually best for all concerned, though non-payment is a major downside.
I'd give him a call. It may be a genuine mistake, he may be tight for money just now, the bank may have made an error.
If he's refusing to pay, CSA or a court order are the ways to enforce payment.
Best of luck.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Go through the CSA. I have a similar problem I am going through at the moment. He was paying through the CSA then we did it ourselves but then he gets the hump due to me moving and now refuses to pay it so i just phoned up the CSA and got them to sort it all.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0
