Forum running slow this morning.

Only once though. Say 10000 people view 30 pages on the forum site a day when the tips mail goes out, Now saving 6K of html from every page saves 1.6Gb of martins bandwidth. ans makes the forums faster. As many of the avatars and sigs are not hosted on Martins servers they can load seperately once the connection to the forums is over and done with.

Yes, only once, but as I said it is a 159k download so is substantial. As for the other avatars, they don't affect martins bandwidth, but they still give the perception of the site being slow.

Yes, that's my point, only once is fractionally inconvenient compared to down right slow html delivery. Other savings in the html would make the site appear much faster even if a one or two images had to catch up on separate threads, if they weren’t cached already.

Just to say chaps. Brendan is watching this thread. We are really thankfully about the discussion and are trying to take as much on board as possible - it is great to have you 'super-techies' (said with affection) making suggestions
