Any electricians out there...?

We have night storage in our house and want to replace the large, old fashioned combi heater in our lounge to a more modern, slimline one and move it to across the room.
Some electricians I've called have said that we can just run a wire from the special night storage plug around the skirting to the new site, but that by replacing the actual heater we're using will mean that we'll need to also change some sort of fuse thing, as each individual heater has it's own fuse (?!) in the fuse box and this will inflate the cost.
Others have said that provided we replace the existing one with the same size heater, the circuit should be there anyway and so we won't need to do that.
Who is right?
