Hello Money Savers, New Boy here. Can you help?
I am looking for information on Income Protection Insurance, at least I think that is what it's called. I am self-employed and want something that will pay out if I have an accident or am sick for a while. My 'jobs' are fairly high risk... I am a Driving Instructor and a Childrens Entertainer. (I'm the clown who teaches people to drive!)
So if there is anyone out there who can recommend a particular company or policy, please let me know.
Ta!

permanent health insurance (PHI) is its correct name. Got to be careful as the marketing geeks at some companies use the term income protection to mean Accident sickness and unemployment (ASU) whilst others use it for PHI.
No individual company can be recommended. 1 - that would constitute advice and that would be a breach of FSA rules 2 - there are multiple levels of cover which would skew the pricing 3 - different companies target different age groups and occupations. What is cheap for one could be the most expensive for another.
In this case, I would suggest you go to an IFA or whole of market protection advisor and get your quotes from them. The online quote portals at various protection sites dont have a very big range of PHI providers so you cannot really rely on them for best product/price.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
