How old is everyone?

How old/what stage in life were people here at when they became an MFW? (e.g. had the Light Bulb Moment)

Been lurking here for a while, my fiancee and I (24&25) have been overpaying the mortgage as much as we can (piggy bank saving), while we have two fulltime incomes (no kids yet! getting married September :D).

Stuff:
115k mortgage/bought house for 130k/30years (started 06/2006)/ Offset BOE+0.49 for life/ probably about 92k to go.

Plus about 11k owed to the Student Loans Company (4.8% interest rate this year )

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I originally started overpaying my mortgage for my first house I bought with my ex-husband when I was 27 by switching my mortgage to the then Virgin account (now RBS).

When I divorced my husband, I paid my husband off and bought another house, taking over the mortgage.

I then started overpaying my mortgage last year aged 38 having settled my debts (I had credit card debts having funded an MBA with them) and funded my wedding to my new husband. I am looking at clearing the mortgage while I am 40(I won't quite hit the birthday sadly).
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Hi
I was 31 in April and my dh is 32, I have suddenly decided to start overpaying our mortgage (didn't even realise you could until I found this site). We owe £103,000 over 21 years so hoping to reduce it significantly by overpaying. Don't really have a date in mind, don't think by the time I'm 40 is feasible but who knows.

Dh and I are both 32. We really got into overpaying just this year, why we didn't consider it before I don't know!

We have about 126k over 22 years.

Me and the Mrs are 25, we started overpaying the mortgage this year was £142k now £135k. We decided we wanted to be MF by the time where 30 so that we can buy another house somewhere hot & sunny and get that MF soon after so that we can say bye bye work, and possibly England.

Neither of us want kids (at the mo anyway, been married 3 years so unlikely to change) so we are looking to give up our professional careers as early as possible, then maybe have hobby jobs, but def be somewhere sunny.

I'm 32 and dh is 35 we started looking at overpaying at the end of last year but didn't seriously put effort into until this year. We would like to reduce our term by half - currently 23 years, we love our house so no other reason than to own the bricks, mortar and whole caboodle!

Currently owe about £119k and want to remortgage next year so trying to bring down amount of secured loan as much as possible

I'm 26, Mr Fuzz is 28. Ideally want to be mortgage free (and/or retired?! ;)) by 35.

Cool, we do want kids. The aim would be to buy a bigger 'family' house when we own this one (good size 2 bed). So we shouldn't be mortgage free for long!

We didn't stretch ourselves too far when buying the house as we were (and still are) thinking that house prices were nearing a peak (looks like it was last autumn), also went for a mortgage which we planned to never remortgage and could overpay as much as we wanted.

Aye, we want kids too - couple of years we reckon. We bought a three bed place so we knew we'd not be forced to move due to space for a good few years. We have a brick built shed type thing, which we can move the office to if we need to turn all three rooms into bedrooms...

The aim is to pay the first mortgage off in 8 years time (I'll be 33), although I suspect the missus may have a career break in that time, so it may not happen! We really should knuckle down a bit more, I reckon we could do it sooner, but we need to have some fun!
